After being diagnosed with idiopathic subglottic stenosis, Judith Roach underwent over 60 bronchoscopic treatments over the course of several years near her home in California; however, none of these treatments produced successful, long-term results. Finally, she was told she was inoperable. During this time, Judith struggled with being able to breathe and speak.

After researching her condition on her own, she discovered Massachusetts General Hospital and scheduled a consultation. She ultimately received care from a multidisciplinary team in the Mass General Division of Thoracic Surgery, led by Cameron Wright, MD, thoracic surgeon.
