Maternal and Infant Health Initiative of Zambia
The Center's Maternal and Infant Health Initiative takes an interdisciplinary
approach to improving the maternal and infant healthcare system
in Zambia. The initiative also involves partners at the Brigham
and Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital Boston, Beth Israel Deaconess
Medical Center, Harvard University, and key government and NGO stakeholders
in Zambia.

» Now available online: "Mwapusukeni! You have survived!", a short video about global maternal health, produced by the MGH Center for Global Health.
» New website added to the Global Health Resources page: The Global Health Education Consortium. Sign up for their listserve to receive information about opportunities to work, train or volunteer abroad.
» Kristian Olson, MD, MPH, DTM&H, MGH Inpatient Clinical Educator, and Senior Advisor of the MGH Center for Global Health, gave a guest lecture on November 9 in a University of Colorado School of Medicine course called "Tropical Medicine & Global Health." The course is designed to prepare students, residents, and faculty to more effectively participate in global health work. Dr. Olson's sessions focused on two topics: (1) Overview of Humanitarian Assistance; and (2) Practical Session for Intervention Response Planning.
» The Center for Global Health participated in the annual Joint Meeting of the Transplantation Society, IXA, IPITA, and CTS in Minneapolis. On September 16, the Center's Director, Thomas F. Burke, MD, presented in a panel discussion entitled "The Market of Human Organs: A Window into a Poorly Understood Global Business". Dr. Burke focused on the global health implications of the organs trade, with a particular focus on the effects of organ sale on vulnerable populations. Dr. Burke also discussed solutions that have been proposed to reduce both the demand for and supply of purchased organs.
