Welcome to the Division of Infectious Diseases

The Division of Infectious Diseases at the Massachusetts General Hospital comprises the Infectious Disease Unit and the Partners AIDS Research Center. Massachusetts General Hospital is a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School and Division faculty and fellows have academic appointments at Harvard.

The Division offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient clinical services related to the care of patients with infectious diseases. Fellowship training occurs either through a combined clinical and research fellowship in Infectious Diseases, certified by the ACGME and combined with the Brigham and Women's Hospital/Dana Farber Cancer Center, or through post-doctoral research fellowships arranged with individual mentors. Graduate students from the Division of Medical Sciences at Harvard Medical School also train in the ID Division.

Division faculty conduct a broad array of both basic and clinical research activities in a variety of areas of microbiology, molecular biology, immunology and host defense.

The Division also offers two continuing medical education post-graduate courses under the sponsorship of Harvard Medical School, one in the fall (focused on HIV/AIDS) and the other in the spring (focused on general infectious diseases). Click here for information on these courses.
