Welcome

The Massachusetts General Hospital LGBTQ Employee Resource Group was formed in 2008, in support of the new Mass General mission and focus on the health and well-being of the diverse communities we serve.  All Mass General employees (friends and allies, as well as those in the LGBTQ community) are welcome to join us and participate in our activities and events.

Mission

The Massachusetts General Hospital Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Employee Resource Group serves to educate the Mass General community about LGBTQ health issues and to create an environment that is supportive of LGBTQ employees, patients, families, friends and allies.

Goals & Objectives

  • Provide a forum for Mass General employees who are LGBTQ, relatives of LGBTQ individuals or interested in LGBTQ issues for discussion, mentoring, and networking
  • Educate both healthcare providers and staff across the Mass General community about the unique health care issues facing LGBTQ patients
  • Ensure that the Mass General climate is safe and welcoming of LGBTQ employees and patients, families and friends
  • Ensure that all Mass General internal policies are inclusive of LGBTQ issues.

ERG Leadership

Josue D. EspinozaAdministrative Chair: Josue D. Espinoza, MHA

Josue (he/him) is an Administrative Manager in the Endocrine Division of the Department of Medicine at the MGH. He earned a Master’s of Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There, he studied in the Gillings School of Global Public Health, understanding the connection between public health and administration. Prior to his graduate studies, Josue earned his undergraduate degree at Boise State University in Boise, ID. Josue is a native of Southern California. In addition to his responsibilities in the DOM, Josue directs the MGH Graduate Administrative Internship, manages the Transgender Health Program, and is a subject matter expert and leader in the MGH Office of Equity & Inclusion, as well as the Center for Diversity and Inclusion. His professional interests include supporting clinicians, public health initiatives, mentorship and education development, advancement of science, and excellence in everyday work.


Jevon OliverClinical Chair: Jevon Oliver, Pharm.D., MS

Jevon (he/him) is currently Pharmacy Manager of Perioperative Pharmacy Services at the MGH Main Campus. He completed his formal PGY1/PGY2/MS Health System Pharmacy Administration residency at University of Wisconsin (UW) Health in Madison, WI in 2018. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Oklahoma City University in 2012 and Doctor of Pharmacy from The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2016. His professional interests include leadership development, inpatient operations, pharmacy automation, and advancement of pharmacy practice.


David De La HozTreasurer: David De La Hoz, MSN, CRNA

David (he/him) is a staff Nurse Anesthetist in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at Mass General. He is a native of Miami, Florida where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Florida International University. He began his career in the medical intensive care unit as a staff RN in 2012. David completed his Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia at Northeastern University in 2019 and completed his anesthesia training primarily at MGH as well. His professional interests include precepting student nurse anesthetists, orthopedic surgery and providing care to the transgender population.


Jamie QuinkertCommunications Officer: Jamie Quinkert, PhD

Jamie (they/them) is the Assistant Director of the Center for Clinical Research Education in the Division of Clinical Research. They earned their doctoral degree from the Rockefeller University in New York City under the supervision of Dr. Donald Pfaff. Prior to that, they received their bachelor’s degree from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. Their professional interests include developing accessible educational offerings that support the conduct of high quality, compliant, and ethical clinical research and meet the needs of the diverse research community at MGH.


Kerry PhelanMembership Coordinator: Kerry Phelan, MBA

Kerry (she/her/hers) is a Project Manager at the MGH Center for Global Health and lead clinic coordinator of the MGH Asylum Clinic. She earned her Master of Business Administration from Endicott College and Bachelor's in Public Health at Merrimack College. Kerry is a Massachusetts native. Her professional interests include advancing local and global health initiatives, immigrant advocacy, community development, administrative operations, and strategic planning.


Michael PadulskyCommunity Resource Officer: Michael Padulsky, LICSW

Michael (he/him) is a Clinical Social Worker in the Radiation Oncology Department at MGH. Michael earned his Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Health/Mental Health from Boston College. He also attended Boston College for his undergraduate studies, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology & Human Development. Michael’s experience includes providing clinical social work care in the field of hematology/oncology, community mental health, and hospice/palliative care. His professional interests include patient advocacy, community awareness/education, non-profit management, and care coordination.


Jeff RichardsEvents Officer: Jeff Richards, MBA, RCIS, FACVP

Jeff (he/him) is a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist in the Cardiovascular Division at the MGH. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from San Diego State University, an Associate of Science degree in Cardiovascular Technology from Grossmont College, and a Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Healthcare Leadership from Regis University in Denver.
