About Non-Surgical Skin Tightening

As you grow older, your skin changes. Proteins found in your skin called collagen and elastin start to break down causing your skin to become loose and sag. Skin tightening treatments can help lift and tone the neck, chin, eyebrows, and chest by stimulating your collagen production.

Fortunately, there are options to tighten the skin that don’t require injections or surgery. The results will not look the same as surgery, like a facelift, but it is a great option for those who do not already need surgery.

You may be a good candidate for non-surgical skin tightening if you can answer "yes" to any of the questions below:

  • Do you have loose skin on your face, neck, or chest area?
  • Do your eyebrows look lower than before?
  • Do you want to tighten your skin without injections or surgery?

How Do the Treatments Work?

There are several unique types of skin tightening treatments; after careful evaluation your doctor will help choose which option is best for you.

We offer the following FDA approved treatments for tightening the skin.

Ultherapy® relies on ultrasound energy to deliver its collagen-boosting treatment. It also incorporates ultrasound imaging, allowing your doctor to see the layers of tissue they are treating, ensuring the treatment energy is delivered to where it is the most beneficial.

Thermage® is a unique radio frequency energy that is a combination of heat energy to treat deep tissue, and cooling effects, to protect the skin surface. This non-surgical treatment stimulates collagen production.

Fractora® delivers radio frequency energy to the skin through an array of pins, producing localized heat and small micro-lesion dots in the treatment area. The gentle heat generated by the Fractora pins in the sub-dermal tissue promotes collagen restructuring for skin rejuvenation and an improved appearance in the skin.

SkinTyte II® utilizes infrared energy to deeply heat soft tissue while protecting the entire treated area with sapphire contact cooling. This process causes soft tissue coagulation and deep tissue heating that initiates the body’s natural healing process, leading to increased tissue firming.

Compared to surgical alternatives, these treatments are performed in our office with little to no downtime, allowing you to return to your daily activities almost immediately. Depending on the specific treatment, results generally take up to four months as your collagen is being rebuilt. Since skin tightening treatments stimulate collagen to rejuvenate your skin, the results are seen over following months.

Why Do I Need a Consultation?

Your treatment plan is customized to meet your specific goals and needs. For this reason, a face- to-face consultation is required. This allows your cosmetic dermatologist (a skin doctor who helps improve a patient’s physical appearance) to develop the best possible treatment plan for you. During the consultation, the doctor will:

  • Address your concerns and develop a personalized treatment plan
  • Review your general health
  • Evaluate your overall skin condition
  • Discuss risks and benefits of the treatment
  • Discuss the number and costs of treatment

Is Treatment Covered by Insurance?

No. Skin tightening treatments are an elective cosmetic dermatology service. Cosmetic dermatology services are typically considered not medically necessary by medical insurance plans and are not likely to be covered.
