About Enrico Cagliero, MD
Dr. Cagliero completed his internship and residency at the University of California, San Diego and his fellowship in Endocrinology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He joined the Diabetes Center at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1995, and is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is now dividing his time between a busy clinical practice, his clinical research efforts and teaching activities.

Research
Dr. Cagliero initiated a clinical program for islet cell transplantation at Harvard Medical School, developed an electronic diabetes management application for primary care physicians taking care of type 2 diabetic patients, and worked on several projects focused on improving care for diabetic patients with depression and other mental health issues. Moreover, Dr. Cagliero has been taking part in several seminal multicenter diabetes studies including the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial/Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (DCCT/EDIC), the Look AHEAD trial, and the Preventing Early Renal Loss in Diabetes (PERL) Study.
