About Anand Dighe, MD, PhD
Dr. Dighe is focused on developing information and decision support systems to enhance pathology laboratory diagnostics. He is a recipient of the 2012 Nathanial Bowditch Prize in recognition of significant contributions to improving the quality of care at the hospital, while reducing its cost. Dr. Dighe as been instrumental in developing the MGH Laboratory Handbook, the diagnostic test database and online manual for specimen submission policies and submission procedures used by the Massachusetts General Hospital medical community. He was also a key developer of the middleware program named MGH PathConnect, designed to give pathologists access and knowledge management permissions to computerized provider order entry (CPOE) systems. Outcomes of this work include improving ordering practices, preventing ordering errors, and avoiding pre-analytic errors.

Dr. Dighe's research and development projects focus on the role of the clinical lab at order entry and result interpretation, web-based applications for clinician education, the role of search engines in clinical information systems, the role of informatics in laboratory management, the development of expert systems for laboratory test selection.
