Dr. Doreen DeFaria Yeh is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She completed Internal Medicine Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Echocardiography at the University of California at San Francisco, where she pursued advanced training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Cardiovascular Disease and Pregnancy. She is nationally recognized for her clinical expertise and leadership in ACHD and maternal cardiology.
Dr. DeFaria is the Director of the MGH Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program and has received numerous awards for her commitment to education and advancing the careers of our future cardiologists. Awards include the American College of Cardiology Emerging Faculty, the Brian McGovern Memorial Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching in Cardiology (multiple recipient), the Eleanor and Miles Shore Scholars Award in Medicine from Harvard Medical School, the Clinician Teacher Development Award, a 4 year grant supported by the Massachusetts General Hospital Physicians Organization and Center for Diversity and Inclusion, and the Karen Carlson Mentorship Award.
Dr. DeFaria has a unwaivering commitment to serve marginalized populations. She volunteers her time globally in Cape Verde, where her family hails, working to advance the cardiovascular care infrastructure, and screening children and adolescents for congenital and rheumatic heart diseases. She is a Board Member of the Cape Verdean American Medical Society and recipient of the Exemplary Service Award for her work in advancing cardiovascular health in Cape Verde.
Dr. DeFaria is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Adult Echocardiography. The has received Certification from the National Board of Echocardiography for Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography.
Her clinical focus is ACHD, Pregnancy & Cardiovascular Disease, particularly high-risk cardiac conditions in pregnancy, cardiovascular conditions of the young, as well as Echocardiography with expertise in ACHD Echocardiography. Dr. DeFaria is an invited speaker nationally and internationally on these topics.
