About Lorie Smith, MD

Dr. Lorie Smith is an attending physician within the Division of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.  She received her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency and an integrated fellowship in Palliative Medicine and Geriatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.  During her fellowship, she also completed the Montefiore-Einstein Certificate Program in Bioethics and Medical Humanities.  Dr. Smith is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Geriatric Medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Joining the MGH and Harvard Medical School faculty in 2010, Dr. Smith serves as an inpatient attending on the palliative care service, helping to meet the needs of seriously ill hospitalized patients and their families. Dr. Smith is the Director of Quality and Safety for the division as well as the Medical Director for a developing dementia co-management model of care with caregiver support.
