About Kyle Faust, PhD

Dr. Faust is a licensed clinical psychologist at MGH and an instructor at Harvard Medical School. He provides services for the Addiction Recovery Management Services and the Child Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic. He is also the program manager of the Digital Addiction and Gambling Treatment Program. In addition to teaching/research responsibilities, he provides individual and group therapy for a wide variety of psychological diagnoses. He provides therapy services in both MA and RI.

Dr. Faust has worked in a wide variety of treatment settings including private practices, university counseling centers, hospitals, residential treatment settings and VA's. He's also worked in a legal consulting practice focusing on evaluating neuropsychological and mental health assessments and provided consultative services for Johns Hopkins Medical School applying gaming interventions for individuals with ASD. Dr. Faust worked and trained at reSTART, the first treatment setting in the United States developed specifically for treating clients and families struggling with Gaming Disorder. He has provided services for clients of many different backgrounds, ages, and diagnoses/various life difficulties. 

Further, Dr. Faust has expertise in a wide variety of treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, the Unified Protocol, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Existential Approaches. These evidence-based approaches allow Dr. Faust to provide top quality care. 

Although Dr. Faust can provide treatment for nearly any presenting concerns, he specializes in Gaming Disorder/Technology Overuse, PTSD, Depression, OCD and Anxiety Disorders. His training allows him to tailor his approach based on what he/clients feel will work best for them. 

Additionally, Dr. Faust has published many peer reviewed articles, particularly on the positive and negative aspects of digital technology. He also co-authored and edited The Oxford Handbook of Digital Technologies and Mental Health. Dr. Faust worked with his research mentor, Dr. James Prochaska, who was a world leading expert in behavior change and the creator of the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change. This model was essential to the development of Motivational Interviewing.
