About Dhaval Kolte, MD, PhD
Dr. Dhaval Kolte received his medical degree from B.J. Medical College in Pune, India. He completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center and cardiology fellowship at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital. He then completed additional fellowship training in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease interventions at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Kolte's clinical interest is in the management of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and other structural heart diseases in adults. He performs percutaneous coronary interventions, transcatheter valve replacement and repair, and transcatheter closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defects (ASD).
Dr. Kolte's research interest is in cardiovascular outcomes and quality of care. Specifically, his current research is focused on understanding the reasons underlying hospital-level variation in outcomes of transcatheter valve interventions and identifying modifiable practices and processes of care associated with improved patient outcomes. He has published >100 original research articles in high-impact journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and Circulation, among many others.
