About David Hao, MD

Dr. Hao is a double board-certified anesthesiologist and chronic pain physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he also serves as the Director of the Cancer Pain Program. He completed his anesthesia residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and a chronic pain fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital. His clinical interests include cancer pain, neuromodulation, and image-guided interventions. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of A&A Practice and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Anesthesia & Analgesia. His research focuses on expanding access to interventional therapies for cancer-related pain, alongside applying multimedia to medical education and advancing patient care quality and safety. He is an advocate for evidence-based medicine and hosts the Depth of Anesthesia podcast, which critically examines clinical dogma through review of the literature.
