About Helen Murray, PhD
Helen Burton Murray, PhD is a psychologist and the Director of the Gastrointestinal (GI) Behavioral Health Program in the MGH Center for Neurointestinal Health. Dr. Burton Murray is a faculty member of the MGH Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program and a Member of the Faculty in Psychology at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Dr. Burton Murray received her BA in Psychology from Georgetown University and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Drexel University. She trained at MGH/HMS for psychology residency and post-doctoral fellowship in the Gastroenterology Division and the Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program. Dr. Burton Murray specializes in behavioral health treatments that aim to decrease the impact of chronic gastrointestinal symptoms on patient’s quality of life and overall medical functioning. Her clinical research program focuses on the intersection of gastrointestinal functional/motility disorders and eating disorders, including development of behavioral health treatments.
