About Muhamed Hadzipasic, MD, PhD
Dr. Muhamed Hadzipasic is a neurosurgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School. He completed neurosurgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by a fellowship in complex spine surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. His clinical practice involves evaluation and surgical treatment of all spine pathologies, including cervical deformity, cervical myelopathy, degenerative spinal conditions, spinal and intradural tumors, spine infections, and traumatic spine injury. He has a particular focus on revision spine surgery, metastatic spine disease, and degenerative scoliosis, utilizing both open and minimally invasive surgical approaches tailored to each patient.
Dr. Hadzipasic's research centers on the molecular and biomechanical mechanisms driving fibrosis and degeneration in spinal disease. His translational work applies techniques from mechanobiology, bioengineering, and computational modeling to investigate how mechanical forces influence cellular signaling and tissue remodeling in the spine. His research has been supported by the NIH, the North American Spine Society, and the Cervical Spine Research Society, and has been recognized by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Spine and Peripheral Nerves.
