About Phyu Pannu Khin, PhD

Dr. Phyu "Pannu" Khin is a licensed clinical psychologist providing evidence-based care at Mass General Hospital and Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Pannu also serves as an instructor in psychology at Harvard Medical School, and supervises clinical fellows. Dr. Pannu specializes in treating trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the psychological adjustment to medical conditions and disabilities.

Dr. Pannu's research examines psychological resilience among trauma survivors facing crises and life adversities, with the goal of developing tailored treatments that address both symptoms and meaning in recovery. She has authored peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and presented her work at national and international conferences, including at the United Nations Headquarters.

Raised in Myanmar, Dr. Pannu also leads initiatives for her community that deliver psychosocial support and training for survivors of political violence, war, and natural disasters such as earthquakes. Her efforts have been recognized with awards from the American Psychological Association (APA) and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS).

Dr. Pannu earned her PhD and masters's degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont and her bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from Montana State University. She completed her clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship from 2023 to 2025 at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

When she is not at Mass General, Dr. Pannu enjoys spending time with loved ones, exploring movement and music as forms of resilience, and nurturing creative practices.
