About Wendy Xiao Herman, MD, PhD

Dr. Wendy Xiao Herman is a board-certified Pediatric Neurologist with a primary interest in neurodevelopment, including autism spectrum disorder. After graduating from Yale School of Medicine with an M.D. as well as a Ph.D. in neuroscience studying human consciousness, she trained in Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and completed Child Neurology residency training at Boston Children's Hospital. She was then awarded and completed a National Institute of Neurological Disease and Stroke R25/UE5 clinical research fellowship focused on examining brain networks involved in autism traits using neuroimaging techniques. The clinical portion of the fellowship was focused on Fetal and Neonatal Neurology as well as early life neurodevelopment. She trained to become research reliability certified in administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) in order to complete independent research in autism. Dr. Herman practices general pediatric neurology with a focus on neurodevelopment and consults on newborns with neurological conditions at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
