About Kathryn Martin, MD

Kathryn A. Martin, M.D., an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, is a longtime faculty member, investigator, clinician, and educator in the Reproductive Endocrine Unit and has an active teaching role that includes the training and supervision of junior faculty members and endocrine fellows. Dr. Martin is the Senior Physician Editor for Endocrinology and metabolism at UpToDate, an online clinical reference for physicians. In addition to her work developing endocrinology content, she is the Senior Physician Editor for Patient Education and a member of the EBM/GRADE group that reviews all physician editors’ evidence sections and graded recommendations. She has written and lectured nationally and internationally on issues relevant to menopausal women and has an important presence at the Endocrine Society’s educational efforts in this arena. She has co-authored reviews of menopausal hormone therapy published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Science, and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. She has served as a as member of the Endocrine Society’s Board of Directors and the Chair of the Guidelines Committee, overseeing the development of 15 new Clinical Practice Guidelines. She was the Chair of the Task Force and first author of the Evaluation and Treatment of Hirsutism in Premenopausal Women Clinical Guideline.
