Damien Leach, MPH, Communications Specialist
Damien Leach, MPH, is the communications specialist for the Office of Equity and Community Health at Massachusetts General Hospital. He joined the Mass General community in 2014 working in the Department of Information Systems, then later transitioned to the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization to deliver Microsoft SQL server database support for the Department of Physician Analytics and Business Intelligence. Previously, he also served as a certified personal trainer at the Clubs at Charles River Park, the Wellness Center at Mass General. As the communications specialist, Damien’s role includes promoting equity, racial justice and inclusion in both virtual and physical spaces, supporting multicultural media partners and deploying arts, culture and music initiatives that reinforce Mass General to be a welcoming environment to all.
In 2015, Damien received a bachelor of science degree in health information technology at Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology. Later, he went on to pursue his master’s degree in public health from Simmons University. His educational training gave him the tools to focus on advancing health equity by addressing structural racism related to health outcomes. He completed his Health Equity Change Project by tackling structural barriers that prevent access to physical activity for members of the Latinx community within Mass General and also completed an immersive service-learning course in Ecuador.
