“Regardless of the number of stars that appear on your pin today, every one of you plays a valued part here at the MGH,” said Peter L. Slavin, MD, MGH president, at the annual Ether Day Celebration Oct. 13.
This year, 3,758 MGHers were honored for their years of service – recognizing those who have worked at the hospital from 5 through 65 years. The Ether Day dancers again showed off their moves in choreographed dances to the top song of each anniversary year.
Two MGHers celebrated especially momentous milestones: Joseph Blanchard, Operating Room Administration, celebrated 65 years, and William Harris, MD, of the Orthopædic Department, celebrated 60 years.
“If you love your job, you never have to go to work,” Slavin said. “The love and dedication people show for their jobs at the MGH truly shows this hospital is a calling and not a place of work.”
