Dr. Dimitriadis recently finished her fellowship training in the Fertility Center at Mass General. The Fertility Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Dimitriadis back to our team.
Jill Attaman, MD, was previously a fellow in the Fertility Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. After over five years of practice in the New England area, she is returning to Mass General and joining the hospital’s team of fertility specialists.
The Fertility Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Attaman back to our team.
Q: Where did you complete your training?
A: I was raised in the Midwest and did my early training at Michigan State University and The Ohio State University. (Go, Buckeyes!) I completed my fertility fellowship here at Mass General, where I was mentored to become the physician I am today. I feel fortunate to be returning to the institution where I trained.
Today, I am committed to providing the best care options to each and every person who wants to become a parent. During my time at Mass General as a fellow, I learned that the Fertility Center does just that. I respected and admired each of my mentors and am now proud to call them my partners.
Q: How did you choose fertility as your specialty?
A: Plain and simple, I love the endocrinology of fertility and reproductive health. And, I find my work fascinating. I went through medical school and residency with a very clear goal of becoming a reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist.
I deeply value the relationships I’m able to develop with the people I encounter who are seeking fertility care, and I knew I was hooked after caring for my first patient with fertility concerns. It is such an important and exciting time in a person’s life, and navigating the challenges can be quite stressful. I appreciate the trials and tribulations of this personal journey and deeply value providing compassionate care to help reduce my patients' concerns.
Q: What are your areas of clinical interest/specialty?
A: My passion lies in providing the most comprehensive, individualized patient care possible to help build families. I am an educator at heart and make every effort to be sure each patient is involved and understands all available options. I am invested in guiding each person through fertility care, whether that includes optimizing attempts at spontaneous conception, ovulation induction, IUI (intrauterine insemination), IVF (in vitro fertilization) or using donor gametes. I am dedicated to reproductive surgery and ensuring care in all aspects of reproductive health.
I also love teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
Q: What is your care philosophy?
A: I work with my patients to educate them, support them through their individual fertility journeys and provide them guidance to help them achieve success.
What do you wish your patients knew before coming to see you?
That we will work together each step of the way to ensure that their family-building goals are met. There may be unexpected challenges during the process, but they will be supported and well informed and will receive the best care there is to offer.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I truly enjoy the personal connection I have with each and every person who sits with me in the office, who I care for in the operating room, or who I guide through an early pregnancy. If I really have to choose one single aspect of a job I love so much, it would be receiving a birth announcement or holiday card from a family I have cared for.
Q: How do you spend your free time?
A: I spend most of my free time with my husband and two young children. We love to explore, spend time with friends, ski, paddleboard and surf, to name a few fun activities. I also practice yoga and love to cook.
