While the Monkeypox virus has been around in African countries for many years, it appeared around the globe in 2022 and the World Health Organization declared it a “public health emergency of international concern." The focus of this presentation will be on Monkeypox virus transmission, signs and symptoms, care of the skin during and after infection, and treatment options. Additionally, we will discuss methods in place, highlighting a Mass General-associated registry, to capture information on Monkeypox cases in order to improve our understanding of the disease process.
