Adolescents frequently experiment with substances of misuse. More problematically, over one-half of substance use disorders begin during adolescence. In this Mass General for Children (MGfC) Family-Centered Care Series talk, the common causes of substance use will be described including contributions of behavioral health. Given the increase in availability of marijuana, we will focus on marijuana use in young people. Treatment strategies for young people with substance problems will also be shared.
