Alcohol and Older Adults: A Complicated and Concerning Relationship

Since the 21st century in the United States, evidence has shown an increasing trend in problematic alcohol use and alcohol use disorders; most notably in older adults. This presentation will review the epidemiology, socioeconomics, and neurocognitive impact of alcohol use disorders in the Baby Boomer generation. Significant U.S. healthcare system concerns as this population continues to age and increase in numbers will also be discussed.
