The Lurie Center at Massachusetts General Hospital provides gastroenterological services to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related neurodevelopmental disorders.Research has shown that gastrointestinal disorders can and often do affect individuals with autism spectrum (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. Many of these disorders present with unusual patterns of symptoms, including atypical behaviors, and these symptoms may not be easily recognized.
Our GI providers at the Lurie Center offer initial diagnostic evaluations and ongoing care and treatment, including hospital procedures within the Mass General Brigham, if warranted. Consistent with the Lurie Center model, our GI providers use a collaborative multidisciplinary approach in treatment. Nutritional consultation services can also be accessed through referrals from the Lurie Center.
Our gastroenterologists provide both direct clinical care and opportunities for participation in research.
