Doctors can diagnose most congenital pulmonary malformations before birth through an ultrasound. If the congenital pulmonary malformation is small, doctors might diagnose your baby after birth.

How do doctors treat congenital pulmonary malformations?

In most cases, surgery is the treatment for congenital pulmonary malformations. Surgery helps remove the cysts or extra tissue in the lungs.

If your baby needs surgery, the care team will talk with you about when to schedule it.
