In this presentation from January 11, 2021, Eugene Beresin, MD, MA, executive director of the Clay Center for Young Healthy Minds, provides practical guidance on how parents, teachers, caregivers, coaches and professionals can help children through the COVID-19 pandemic. Issues include: what symptoms to look for in kids of different ages; what to do; and how to manage your own anxiety. He presents practical tips on how to support children and address why this pandemic is a “perfect storm” with other important stress factors impacting our children. Beresin addresses the important issues of missing social emotional learning, dealing with loneliness, questions about arrested development and managing back to school anxiety. Additional resources from the Clay Center will be provided. This presentation is a collaboration between the Maxwell and Eleanor Blum Patient and Family Learning Center and MGfC.
