About Robert Doyle, MD

Dr. Doyle completed a residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. While at Dartmouth, he served as chief resident for the General Psychiatry program and later for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program. He also completed a second fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at MGH. Prior to entering medicine, Dr. Doyle earned a Masters of Arts in Humanities while practicing General Dentistry.

Dr. Doyle is focusing his research career on the treatment of autism and pervasive developmental disorders; however, he has extensive experience in the treatment of ADHD, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders as clinical researcher in the Pediatric Psychopharmacology Research Unit at MGH. He is on the editorial board of The International Journal of Immunology and Pharmacology, which was recently cited at one of the top ten scientific journals in Italy. In his first two years of practice at MGH and McLean Hospital, Dr. Doyle was honored with three Mass General Brigham in Excellence Awards.

Research

Dr. Doyle was the past Clinical Director of PDD Research in the Pediatric Psychopharmacology Unit at MGH. He has extensive research experience in research experience in ADHD through the life span, child and adolescent bipolar disorder. He also was involved with clinical trials in OCD, and Tourette's Syndrome. He is the author of co-author on more than 30 peer reviewed articles and he wrote the chapter of stereotypic behaviors for the latest edition of Kaplan and Sadock's Comprehensive Textbook on Psychiatry. He current is preparing a chapter on autism for a textbook on consultation-liaison psychiatry through Oxford University Press. He serves on the editorial boards of three scientific journals: The Journal of Attention Disorders, The International Journal of Immunopathology and Pharmacology, and The European Journal of Inflammation. He also reviews articles for two other journals, Pediatrics and Autism.
