About Rachel Whooten, MD

Rachel Whooten is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children in Boston, Massachusetts. She is board-certified in Pediatric Endocrinology and Obesity Medicine. In addition to being the Clinical Director of Pediatric Endocrine, she is also active in quality improvement, fellow education, and clinical research. She graduated from Williams College and Boston University School of Medicine, then completed her residency in Pediatrics at UCSF, moving back to Boston to complete her fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at MGH.

She is currently supported by a K23 award from NIDDK addressing physical activity as a potential strategy for PCOS prevention, which has included characterizing PCOS within a prospective cohort (Project Viva). Her other active research projects include early life obesity prevention interventions and tertiary care management of pediatric obesity.
