Hirsutism: Diagnosis and Treatment

How do doctors treat hirsutism?

To figure out the best treatment, your care team will do several tests to understand the cause of the condition. Once they figure out the cause, treatments may include:

• Dietary changes and regular exercise (if the condition is caused by obesity and PCOS)
• Oral prescription medications
• If hirsutism is caused by a medication, reducing the dose or stopping the medication may help
• Hair removal products, electrolysis or laser hair removal
