Melissa Tecci is a child life specialist working on the pediatric inpatient unit (Ellison 17) with children ages birth to eight years.

I’ve been privileged to work as an MGfC child life specialist for the last 7 years first stationed in the Center for Perioperative Care and since 2009, on Ellison 17, the pediatric inpatient floor for children ages birth to eight years. I truly love my work and doing whatever I can to make a child and family’s time in the hospital a little easier. Whether preparing a child for what to expect throughout their hospitalization, helping them through difficult procedures, providing developmentally appropriate play opportunities or offering overall family support, my role can vary daily. The one constant each day is that I am inspired by how resilient children are.  I am fortunate to have a profession in which I’m consistently learning from and challenged by the amazing children I care for.
