About Rute Teixeira

Rute I. Teixeira is a Pediatric Urology Nurse Practitioner at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children. Rute previously worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as a staff nurse for 17 years in the intermediate-care float pool department. She earned her BSN from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. As a dedicated nursing professional, Rute’s interest is community and global health, primarily working within her own Cape Verdean community in the Greater Boston and Brockton area, addressing social determinants of health and health disparities. She is the founding president of the Cape Verdean Nurses Association, Inc., a non-profit organization with the primary focus  in health promotion/maintenance education to underserved communities.
