About Eric Eisenhauer, MD

Dr. Eisenhauer was born in Seattle, Washington and raised in San Diego, California.  He graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College, following which he received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.  Dr. Eisenhauer completed an integrated residency in obstetrics & gynecology at Mass General and Brigham & Women’s Hospitals and completed his gynecologic oncology fellowship training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.  He joined the faculty at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2008 as an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, with an appointment in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.  In 2013, he was recruited to the University of Cincinnati as associate professor to create and develop a Division of Gynecologic Oncology, which currently counts seven faculty members and a robust clinical and research program.  He also served as medical director for gynecologic oncology, vice chair of gynecologic surgery, principal investigator for NRG Oncology and chair of the Robotic Steering Committee.  In 2018, he returned to Mass General as the chief of gynecologic oncology.  Dr. Eisenhauer, his wife and two daughters are excited to return to the Boston community, and he begrudgingly admits to being the fourth most capable in the family.

Dr. Eisenhauer has been invited to lecture nationally and internationally on the management of advanced ovarian and other gynecologic cancers.  He is the member of multiple professional organizations and has authored more than 60 original articles and book chapters. He has received multiple awards for teaching and improving patient experience, and completed additional coursework in Quality Improvement Science from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
