About Maria Stamou, MD, PhD

Maria Stamou, M.D./Ph.D., is a Reproductive Endocrinologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Instructor at Harvard Medicine School. Dr. Stamou’s research explores the genetic background of reproductive disorders, focusing on discovery of novel genes regulating reproduction and the intersection between reproduction and metabolism. The results of her research have been published in the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, the European Journal of Endocrinology, and the Endocrine Reviews. She has received numerous awards and research grants including an F32 Ruth L. Kirschstein Postdoctoral Individual National Research Service Award, the John Potts Pilot Award from Mass General's Endocrinology Division, and the Fund for Medical Discovery (FMD) Research Award from the Massachusetts General Hospital. At clinic, Dr. Stamou sees patients with a wide range of endocrine disorders, including polycystic ovary syndrome, hypogonadism, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, premature ovarian insufficiency, early menopause, and menstrual disorders.
