Specialized services include the placement of vascular access for the conduct of therapeutic hemodialysis, hemoperfusion, plasmapheresis, or hemofiltration. The experienced physician and nursing staff of the state-of-the-art inpatient hemodialysis unit deliver the optimal medical support for the patient with acute or chronic renal failure.

About This Program

Our approach in the Hemodialysis unit is to provide the best care possible to our ESRD patients. Our unit consists of team specialists to assist the nephrologist in providing long-term comprehensive care. This team includes kidney specialists (nephrologists), transplant surgeons, psychiatrists, dialysis nurses, dieticians, social workers, clinical nurse specialist, and a nurse practitioner.

Our Hemodialysis unit consists of 11 state-of-the-art dialysis stations. Treatments are provided to patients in the dialysis unit, Transplant Center, Intensive Care Units, or in the patient's room when medically necessary. Dialysis services are scheduled six days a week and a nurse is always on call to provide service after regular business hours.

The hemodialysis unit provides both acute and chronic therapy. The acute unit provides an average of 300 to 400 treatments per month, while the chronic unit provides 100 to 150 treatments per month.

You will be assigned to a specially trained dialysis nurse who will provide your treatment and education, as well as answer any questions you might have. At each treatment, you will be examined briefly by a physician. The dietician and social worker will also routinely visit to answer questions or discuss any problems.
