MGH neighbor and West End staple, The West End Museum, is once again open to the public this summer after being closed for more than two years because of a burst pipe. The newly renovated and reimagined space formally reopened in May.

Special delivery: Behind the scenes at the loading and receiving dock

Opened in 2011, the Lunder dock is the largest – and busiest – of Mass General’s three receiving areas. Others are located at the Yawkey and Jackson Buildings. The Jackson Building dock was the hospital’s first loading dock and is still operational with two bays available for delivery trucks.

MGH’s new building named the Phillip and Susan Ragon Building

In 1811, the founders of the MGH had a dream: to construct a hospital to provide round-the-clock, state-of-the-art health care and support medical education. To make this lofty vision a reality, they launched a fundraising campaign, bringing in gifts from 25 cents to $20,000 – and even accepted one donation in the form of a 273-pound sow.
