Overview

Massachusetts General Hospital’s Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery participates in the Harvard Plastic Surgery Combined Residency Program along with four other Boston teaching hospitals: Brigham and Women’s Hospital (the sponsoring institution), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital and the Shriners Hospital of Boston.

The mission of the program is to provide the highest quality plastic surgical care to patients in need, to provide the most comprehensive level of education for residents and students, and to further the science of plastic surgery by collaborating with the faculty of the various institutions in their research endeavors.

The program consists of two tracks:

  • A six-year integrated program that combines prerequisite general surgery training with subsequent plastic surgery training
  • An advanced or independent three-year program for residents that have already completed prerequisite training in another specialty
