About Lydia Maurer, MD, MPH

Lydia Maurer, MD, MPH is a surgeon in the division of Trauma, Emergency Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at Massachusetts General Hospital and a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed a two-year Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania following her General Surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Maurer received her undergraduate degree from Yale University, her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, and her Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her clinical interests center on delivering high quality surgical care of critically injured patients and those with intra-abdominal emergencies. In her elective practice, she specializes in abdominal wall and inguinal hernia repair, gallbladder disease, and the application of robotic techniques in acute care and general surgery. Her research focuses on surgical outcome prediction, long-term outcomes after trauma, and equity in surgical care.
