They said that the chin punching was just a part of his autism. We went to the emergency room a couple times, and they would say to follow up with our psychiatrist because self-injurious behavior is part of autism. It really wasn’t. When we got a handle on his reflux, he didn’t punch himself anymore. So, we really want doctors to understand that people are more than their autism.
