Herbert Y. Lin, MD, PhD is a member of the of the Center for Assessment Technology and Continuous Health (CATCH) at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Herbert Y. Lin, MD, PhD is currently Director of Translational Research, Division of Nephrology at Massachusetts General Hospital and holds the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. His research in receptor biology and signaling pathways has led to numerous scientific breakthroughs, including the identification of the first TGF-b signaling receptors and the first BMP co-receptors. Dr. Lin’s recent work into the connection between BMP signaling, hemojuvelin and iron metabolism has lead to several patent applications which are the basis for the new treatment of anemia that is being developed by FerruMax Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a company co-founded by Dr. Lin in 2008. Dr. Lin has authored over 100 scientific papers in prestigious journals such as Cell, Science, Nature Genetics and the Proceedings of the US National Academy of Science. He is a named co-inventor on 11 US patents.
Dr. Lin received his MD from Harvard Medical School and his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
