In this recent Mass General Blum Center presentation, Eugene Beresin, MD, MA, executive director of the Clay Center for Young Healthy Minds, provides practical guidance on how parents, teachers, caregivers, coaches and professionals can help children through the COVID-19 pandemic. Issues include what symptoms to look for in kids of different ages, what to do and how to manage your own anxiety. He presents practical tips on how to support children and addresses why this pandemic is a “perfect storm” with other stress factors impacting our children. Finally, Dr. Beresin addresses missing social-emotional learning, dealing with loneliness, questions about arrested development and managing back-to-school anxiety. Additional resources from the Clay Center are provided.
