Overview

Mass General for Children offers all of the latest imaging modalities for diagnosing and monitoring cardiac conditions in pediatric patients of all ages, including:

  • 3-D echocardiography
  • 64-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT)
  • Cardiac MRI angiography with 3-D capabilities
  • PET scanning
  • Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)

Many of these services are available at several locations in addition to the main hospital campus.

We have particular expertise and capabilities in pediatric echocardiography and can accommodate most requests for prompt—often same-day, if needed—evaluations. Under the leadership of Mary Etta King, MD, our pediatric echocardiography service uses state-of-the-art equipment that produces all-digital images that can be easily shared for consultation among physicians involved in the child’s care.

Echocardiographic studies are conducted in settings that are designed specifically for children, with a focus on the child’s comfort and emotional well-being.
