Overview

When an injured child is transported to MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGfC), pediatric specialists respond immediately to provide urgent care. Our pediatric team is also available around the clock to care for children requiring evaluation and management of any surgical emergency.

Attending Level Physicians and a Multidisciplinary Team

Our team includes pediatric physicians specializing in general, thoracic and urologic surgery, orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery, oral surgery, plastic surgery, critical care, emergency services and anesthesia.

Our team of specialists work together using the most advanced techniques to treat complex traumatic injuries including organ injury, burns, complex fractures, pelvic injury, severe head trauma and spinal cord injuries. Our Pediatric Trauma Follow-up Clinic provides ongoing care for children who have sustained a traumatic injury. The clinic welcomes referrals from emergency or primary care physicians and is available by appointment.

Regional Referral Center

The Pediatric Trauma and Emergency Surgery team sees patients who are directly admitted through the MGfC Emergency Department. We also receive transfer patients with complex traumatic or non-traumatic surgical needs from sites throughout New England.
