Who We Are

Each year, the Mass General Department of Pharmacy recruits top candidates for the Pharmacy Residency Programs. Our residents come from all across the United States, and bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives to the department and institution. Our clinical pharmacy preceptors are experts in their chosen specialty and are dedicated to the continual growth and development of our residents and programs.

Life in Boston

Boston

As a Mass General resident, you will be based in Boston, home of the Red Sox, excellent clam chowder, Dunkin’ Donuts, and some of the nation’s oldest historical attractions. Mass General’s main campus is located in Boston’s historic Beacon Hill, known for its characteristic brownstone buildings and brick sidewalks. Explore the boutiques and eateries on Charles Street and stroll along the Charles River Esplanade. Head over to Newbury Street for high-end shopping. For history buffs, the Freedom Trail takes you to the site of the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere’s house and Faneuil Hall. Just across the Charles River is the city of Cambridge, home to world-renowned institutions Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Our residents participate in a variety of optional activities together outside of the hospital, including a local kickball league in Boston Common.

PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residents

Sloane EnglishSloane English

Dr. Sloane English is from Cheraw, South Carolina. She obtained her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the College of Charleston and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy. Her practice interests include psychiatric pharmacy and emergency medicine. In her free time, she enjoys attending Pure Barre classes, going to concerts, and spending time with her fur babies. Following completion of the residency year, Dr. English plans to pursue a PGY-2 in her area of interest.

Jennifer GiuliettiJennifer Giulietti

Dr. Giulietti is from Wallingford, Connecticut. She holds a Bachelors in Biochemistry from Providence College and graduated from Northeastern University with her Doctor of Pharmacy. Her practice interests include a mixture of pediatrics, critical care, and research. She enjoys running on the esplanade, trying new foods, or watching reality TV in her spare time. Dr. Giulietti plans on pursing either a PGY-2 in pediatrics with a focus on critical care, or a PGY-2 in critical care after completion of the residency year.

Madison KoonsMadison Koons

Dr. Madison Koons is from Buffalo, New York. She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. Her practice interests include infectious diseases, emergency medicine, and critical care. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants throughout Boston, and practicing pilates. Dr. Koons plans to pursue a PGY-2 in a specialty of her interest after completion of the residency year.

Jacqueline LangeJacqueline Lange

Dr. Jacqueline Lange is originally from LaPorte, Indiana. She completed pharmacy school at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. Her primary practice interests are critical care, emergency medicine, and infectious diseases. Outside of pharmacy, she loves to spend time hiking with her husband and dogs, rock climbing, and trying new restaurants. After residency, she plans to pursue a PGY-2 in critical care.

Natalie LeungNatalie Leung

Dr. Leung is from Memphis, Tennessee. She received both her undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Northeastern University. Her practice interests include pediatrics, oncology, and critical care. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys traveling, biking, and trying new restaurants. Dr. Leung plans to pursue a PGY-2 in a specialty of her interest after completing her residency year.

Melissa PorterMelissa Porter

Dr. Melissa Porter is from Denver, Colorado. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona and graduated from the University of Colorado with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Her practice interests include emergency medicine, infectious disease, and cardiology. She enjoys running, hiking, and practicing archery. Dr. Porter plans to pursue a PGY-2 in emergency medicine after completion of the residency year.

Elizabeth SauersElizabeth Sauers

Dr. Elizabeth Sauers is from Holland, Pennsylvania. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at the University of the Sciences. Her practice interests include emergency medicine and critical care. She enjoys hiking mountains, running on the Esplanade, reading, and traveling. Dr. Sauers plans to pursue a PGY-2 residency in her area of interest after completing her PGY-1 year.

Non-Traditional PGY-1 Residents

Austin ParkAustin Park

Dr. Austin Park is from Somerville, Massachusetts. He completed both his undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Northeastern University. Additionally, he completed a Post-Master’s Certificate in Health Informatics. His practice interests include pharmacy informatics, psychiatry and neurology. He enjoys video games, cooking and spending time with his dogs. Dr. Park plans to apply his PGY1 experiences as an overnight pharmacist in a large academic medical center.

Adele YeAdele Ye

Dr. Ye is from Houston, Texas. She received both her undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. Prior to clinical residency, she worked as a Central Operations pharmacist at MGH. Her practice interests include critical care and pediatrics. She enjoys running, watching movies, and traveling. Dr. Ye plans to pursue a PGY-2 in her area of interest after completion of the residency program.

PGY-1/2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residents

Sydney TuSydney Tu

Dr. Tu is from Southern California. She obtained both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from St. Louis College of Pharmacy. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences with an emphasis in Health-System Pharmacy Administration through the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Her practice interests include management in pharmacy operations, ambulatory care, and transitions of care. She enjoys traveling, trying new cuisines, and creating art pieces. Dr. Tu plans to pursue a career in pharmacy administration at an academic medical center after completing her PGY-2.

Kash BettigaKash Bettiga

Dr. Bettiga is from Jackson, Mississippi. He completed his undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi and is completing his Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences with specialization in Health-System Pharmacy Administration through the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. His practice interests include pharmacy operations, clinical pharmacy management, and compliance. Dr. Bettiga enjoys hiking, sports, and spending time with friends and family. Dr. Bettiga will be continuing as a PGY-2 in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership resident after the completion of the residency year.

PGY2 Pharmacy Residents

Kaitlyn GrievesKaitlyn Grieves - Transplant

Dr. Grieves is from Peoria, Illinois and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy with her Doctor of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 residency at MGH and is the current PGY2 in solid organ transplant. Her interest in solid organ transplant includes transitions of care, patient education, and management of transplantation complications. She enjoys exploring Boston, traveling, cooking and spending time on the water. Dr. Grieves plans to obtain BCTXP certification and pursue a career as a solid organ transplant clinical pharmacy specialist at an academic medical center with the opportunity to participate in precepting and research after completion of the residency year.

Nicholas PetrucelliNicholas Petrucelli - Emergency Medicine

Dr. Petrucelli is originally from Southbury, Connecticut. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston and completed his PGY-1 training at Massachusetts General Hospital. His practice interests include both toxicology and infectious diseases. During his free time, he enjoys going on hikes, traveling, and playing the piano. Dr. Petrucelli plans to pursue a career as an Emergency Medicine Pharmacist following completion of the residency year.

Sarah ValianteSarah Valiante - Infectious Diseases

Dr. Valiante is from Levittown, Pennsylvania. She obtained her undergraduate degree in chemistry from The Pennsylvania State University and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Temple University School of Pharmacy. She did her PGY-1 residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her practice interests include infectious diseases and solid-organ transplant. She enjoys running, baking, and playing with her cats and dog. Dr. Valiante plans on pursuing a career as an infectious diseases pharmacist.

Miranda MonkMiranda Monk - Infectious Diseases

Dr. Miranda Monk is from Bangor, Maine. She graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Rhode Island. She completed her PGY-1 residency at Kaiser Permanente San Diego in California. She has practiced for two years as a clinical pharmacist at Massachusetts General Hospital prior to transitioning into her new role as a non-traditional PGY-2 Infectious Disease Pharmacy Resident. Her practice interests include stewardship and adult infectious diseases. She enjoys working out, running and being a cat mom to Finnley and Joey.

Gretchen InglingGretchen Ingling - Internal Medicine

Dr. Gretchen Ingling is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Her practice interests include transitions of care, academia, and global health. She enjoys traveling, reading, exercising, and trying new restaurants. Dr. Ingling plans to pursue a career as an internal medicine pharmacist with opportunities for teaching following completion of her residency.

Stephanie ChenStephanie Chen - Critical Care

Dr. Stephanie Chen is from Los Angeles, California. She graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco and completed her PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Her practice interests include emergency medicine, cardiology, and infectious disease. She enjoys swing dancing, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her friends and family. After completion of the residency year, Dr. Chen plans to obtain BCCCP certification and hopes to pursue a career as a critical care pharmacist with opportunities to teach and precept.

Sunny Miao - Psychiatry

Sunny is from Taipei, Taiwan. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from MCPHS University. She completed her PGY1 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME. Her practice interests include mood disorders and adolescent psychiatry. In her free time, she enjoys making kusudama origami while watching tv series and trying new food from various restaurants. She plans to pursue a career as a psychiatric pharmacist with opportunities to precept learners after completing her residency.

Kathryn RechenbergKathryn Rechenberg - Oncology

Dr. Kathryn Rechenberg is from St. Louis, Missouri. She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. She completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency at Massachusetts General Hospital with interests in oncology, bone marrow transplant, and academia. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, baking, and exploring the Northeast. Dr. Rechenberg plans to pursue a career as a hematology/oncology clinical specialist at an academic medical center with the opportunity to hold an academic appointment after completing her residency year.
