About MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center
MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center, part of Massachusetts General Hospital, provides high quality adult primary care to patients who live in Chelsea and its neighboring communities. We strive to promote access to health care for all by minimizing barriers, such as language, ethnicity or ability to pay.
We are actively involved in community-based programs to help enhance the public health of residents in the Chelsea area.
A Team Approach to Care
We provide health care as a team, with a focus on the individual patient. This model is often called a "patient-centered medical home."
Each dedicated health care team includes:
- A physician
- A nurse practitioner
- Nurses
- Administrative staff
Together, patients and their health care team create a health care plan that is personalized and coordinated to help patients stay healthy and to provide care when they need it. The team can help patients better understand their health care needs, maintain an accurate medication list or connect them with specialists if necessary. Patients will be encouraged to play an active part in their health care by asking questions, communicating with their care team and collaborating to reach healthy goals.
Educating the Next Generation of Health Care Leaders
As part of Mass General, the largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, we are proud to participate in educating the next generation of health care professionals and have several Mass General residents at our practice. These physicians received their medical degrees from top-ranked medical schools and are specializing in internal medicine. They are supervised by our attending physicians. Patients who see a resident as their primary care provider will find the attending physician’s name on their insurance card.
Kraft Center for Community Health
With the support of Mass General Brigham HealthCare and its founding academic medical centers—Mass General and Brigham and Women’s Hospital—the Kraft Center for Community Health helps develop the careers of physicians and nurses from throughout the country who are committed to improving the health of our communities. Learn more about our work with the Kraft Center for Community Health.
Electronic Medical Records
Every Mass General location uses the same secure electronic medical record (EMR) system. Each patient’s EMR includes up-to-date information about their health, whether they receive care at MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center, at the hospital’s main location in Boston or at any other Mass General community location.
Billing and Insurance
We request that any required payments or co-payments are made at the time of the visit. We accept personal checks and credit cards.
We accept most major insurance and managed care plans, including Mass Health and Medicare. Please confirm that we accept your plan before your first visit or when you change insurance providers.
Please note: Chelsea HealthCare Center Urgent Care is a licensed hospital facility. If you receive care through these services, your visits are processed as "outpatient hospital visits," and this may result in higher copayments and deductibles. Please review your health insurance coverage or call your health insurance provider to better understand out-of-pocket expenses.
