About Todd Rinehart, LICSW, APHSW-C
Todd Rinehart, LICSW, APHSW-C, serves as the Social Work and Spiritual Care Director within the MGH Division of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine. He is certified as an Advanced Palliative and Hospice Social Worker. His commitment to end-of-life care was initiated during his volunteer work with the Gay Men’s Health Crisis in New York City at the peak of the AIDS epidemic. This formative experience redirected his career trajectory from arts administration to a profound pursuit of understanding care for individuals at the end of life, ultimately leading to the attainment of a Master of Social Work from New York University.
Since his graduation in 2000, Todd has dedicated his professional career to working in HIV/AIDS, hospice, and palliative care settings. He has been affiliated with the Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care as a faculty member since 2008 and is actively involved in the Harvard Palliative Care Fellowship Program. He assumes the role of course planner for the Foundations of Palliative Care course and participates on the steering committee for the Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care.
In addition to his academic and professional roles, Todd has devoted the past decade to volunteering as a counselor at Comfort Zone Camp, a bereavement camp that supports children who have lost a parent, sibling, or guardian. Furthermore, he is a passionate theatre enthusiast, engages in community theatre activities, and is a member of the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus.
