We Are Here, Open and Ready to Care for You!

As the volume of COVID-19 surges, we continue to work hard to take care of your health and provide all of our patients needed care while at the same time protecting the health and safety of our providers and staff who are, of course, central to your care. The best thing now to control the virus’ spread is to optimize physical distancing, which includes limiting in-person medical care to essential visits, problems and procedures. We at Massachusetts General Hospital are very much open for business and doing our part to care for problems both related to and separate from COVID-19. We write to tell you how to best reach out to us so we can best help you.

For Gynecologic Care

We are open across all our sites for urgent in-person visits. Please call our offices to speak with someone about your problems and questions. In some cases, these concerns can be managed with virtual visits using either telephone or video/smart-phone technology. We will also be using these technologies in place of routine and previously scheduled appointments that have needed to be deferred.

  • Urogynecology/Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery: (857) 238-8496
  • Gynecologic Oncology: (617) 724-4800

For Obstetric Care

We are as busy as ever providing prenatal and postpartum care in all of our offices and delivering babies on Blake 14 at Mass General. To appropriately minimize the number of your visits but still assure best outcomes, we have consolidated a few visits and, when possible, will plan other visits using phones or video devices. In all cases, we will be sure you have the care you need and that is right for your pregnancy and specific circumstances.

For delivery, we look forward to caring for you in the hospital, and we have a large staff here ready to care for you.

Key things to understand about your labor and delivery stay include:

  • All patients presenting for delivery are encouraged to bring one support person to be with them during their delivery. Given the ongoing pandemic, and in line with current hospital policy and needs to protect the health of our staff and other patients, the person who comes to support you must be free from symptoms of COVID-19
  • At Mass General we continue to support "rooming in" for all our patients, enabling our mothers to share space with their newborns. This includes those that may have known or suspected COVID-19 infections and is in line with latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
  • Also in line with CDC recommendations, we continue to support breastfeeding for all women and families who have chosen to feed this way

We understand that pregnancy is a time that brings many questions, and our current times have only added more. We are here to respond and have added staff to do so. Please just call us at 617-724-BABY (2229).

Please view our updated list of frequently asked pregnancy questions that may also answer many things on your mind.

These are extraordinary times, but in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mass General we remain committed to providing extraordinary care. We are sorry that the COVID-19 pandemic prevents some of the visits and care that you and we are used to. We look forward to times ahead when, soon we hope, we can be back to business as usual. Until then, please use the phone numbers above or your Patient Gateway account to let us know how and when we can best care for and help you.
