Dear Mass General OB/GYN Patients,

During the ongoing COVID-19 events, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Mass General is committed to keeping all our patients safe. Now, and in accordance with the hospital and public health recommendations, we are focused on essential care in the office and hospital settings. This allows us to promote recommended social distancing and focus our resources on those with urgent needs.

As a result, please note:

  • You may get called from your OB/GYN provider or nurse in the coming days to let you know that an upcoming appointment has been deferred
  • We will defer appointments only when we think it is safe to do so and, for those who are pregnant, when it is safe for your pregnancy
  • We are also working toward opportunities to substitute calls or virtual/electronic visits where appropriate

We want to reassure you all that we are always open 24/7 for all urgent care in the OB/GYN office, on Labor and Delivery and in the hospital. If you have an urgent question or concern, please call the phone numbers listed on our Contact Us page.

* Please also note changes to the Mass General visitor policy

We will post updates as often as possible to let you know of ongoing efforts to keep you as healthy as possible in the coming weeks.

We appreciate that these are difficult and unusual times. We are here to take care of you and your families.

Sincerely,

Jeff Ecker, MD, chief & the Mass General OB/GYN Department
