Harvard Orthopaedic Surgery Resident Named to Presidential Leadership Scholars Program
David Bernstein, MD, MBA, MEI, a second year resident with the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program (HCORP), was recently selected as a Presidential Leadership Scholar. According to the Presidential Leadership Scholars (PLS) program, the 2022 class was selected after a rigorous application and review process, and David is one of only sixty scholars chosen. In addition to physicians, this select group includes veterans, educators, public servants and corporate professionals.
Scholars were chosen “based on their leadership growth potential and the strength of their personal leadership projects aimed at improving the civic or social good by addressing a critical challenge or need in a community, profession, or organization.” Over the course of several months, Scholars will learn from former presidents, key former administration officials, and leading academics. They will study and put into practice varying approaches to leadership and develop a network of peers who can help them make an impact in their communities. The program kicked off virtually on Jan. 18.
Dr. Bernstein earned his BA from Bowdoin College, his MD from the University of Rochester and is pursuing a PhD with Leiden University in the Netherlands. He is a former Fulbright Scholar who attended the University of Luxembourg and was chosen to serve as a Fulbright U.S. Student Alumni Ambassador.
