About Stephanie Hicks, MS, CGC

Ms. Hicks joined the Center for Cancer Risk Assessment in 2017 after graduating from the University of Colorado with a Masters in Genetic Counseling. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Vermont. She worked in a cancer and cell biology lab at the University of Vermont before beginning graduate school. As part of CCRA, Ms. Hicks provides risk assessment and genetic counseling services across multiple different disease centers, including the Breast and Ovarian Cancer Genetics Program and the Gastrointestinal Cancer Genetics Program. In addition, Ms. Hicks is also the lead genetic counselor in the Neuro-Oncology Genetics Program and specializes in genetic testing for neurofibromatosis and schwannomatosis. She also co-founded the Pediatric Oncology Genetics clinic at the CCRA. Outside of clinic, she is involved in the VCEP (Variant Classification Expert Panel) for neurofibromatosis and schwannomatosis, contributing to the advancement of genetic understanding and the development of clinical guidelines. She also enjoys teaching genetic counseling students about neuro-oncology genetics as well as pediatric oncology genetics. Finally, Ms. Hicks is interested in introducing the field of genetic counseling to many different audiences, especially high school and college students.
