Before you begin your new job, you will need to complete the following steps.

  • Step 1: Complete the I-9 form in HireRight
    • The federal government requires that you complete the Federal I-9 form within three days of hire. HireRight Customer Support will e-mail instructions for completing the I-9 form and presenting your original I-9 documents in the week prior to your start date.

This step is required of all new employees, including those transferring to Mass General from another Mass General Brigham affiliate. If you are transferring from Bulfinch Temporary Service you may skip this task.

  • Step 2: Schedule an Occupational Health appointment
    • You will receive an email from Occupational Health Services to review your vaccination record and schedule an appointment for your new hire pre-placement screening.
    • If you are not contacted by Occupational Health Services prior to your start date, call their office at 617-726-2217 to arrange a screening. The Occupational Health screening is required for all new employees.
    • If you are transferring from Bulfinch Temporary Service or another Mass General Brigham affiliate without any break in service between jobs, an appointment is not necessary. If there was a break in service, you will need to schedule a pre-placement screening.
  • Step 3: Review instructions for completing New Employee Orientation (NEO)
    • On the Thursday or Friday prior to your start date, you will receive an email from the MGH Training & Workforce Development Office with information about Mass General’s online NEO.
    • Please note: A desktop or laptop computer is necessary to complete the online NEO modules. The content cannot be accessed on any other mobile devices, such as smart phones or tablets. If you do not have access to a computer or think you will have difficulty completing the online orientation due to limited English or familiarity with computers, please contact your recruiter as soon as possible for assistance.
  • Step 4: Contact your manager
    • Contact your manager to confirm your work schedule. If you don’t know your manager’s name, contact your recruiter. Your recruiter’s name and phone number can be found on your offer letter.
